Temazcal project
The temazcal (“steam house”) is a dome-shaped structure with a circular floor plan, made of volcanic rocks and concrete. It is used as part of an ancient Mayan purification ceremony to regenerate spirit and body. The area in front is usually used to prepare guests and set up the initial stages of the ceremony by heating the volcanic rocks then placed in the well inside the temazcal. The strong natural impact and the needs expressed suggested the idea of creating two mixed structures with a monolithic appearance and symmetrical with respect to the brazier, able to fit into the surrounding environment and architecture and create a cozy, evocative and exciting space
